Edge AI, or Edge Artificial Intelligence, refers to the deployment of AI algorithms directly on edge devices such as smartphones, sensors, cameras, and IoT devices, rather than relying on centralized cloud servers. This approach allows data to be processed locally, closer to where it is generated, resulting in lower latency, reduced bandwidth usage, and enhanced privacy. Edge AI leverages compact and efficient machine learning models that can run on limited-resource hardware, enabling real-time decision-making without constant cloud connectivity.
